Located on 2 Acres in Pine Junction, on a north facing hill, at 8600', you will find our farm. Still in its infancy. We raise layer hens, meat birds, fruits, vegetables, grains, and more.
Every year, we work to expand our operations. As we grow, we aim to introduce other livestock, market our produce and prepared food items in the coming years, as well as provide educational experiences.
These are not your typical backyard eggs. Inspired by Joel Salatin, we blend our own chicken feed, using whole corn, whole wheat, whole oats, whole peas, fish meal, and a nutrient balancer. This blend is fermented for improved nutrient absorption, enhanced egg quality, and increased availability of nutrients. The bulk of our feed comes locally from the Flagler, CO Co-op. We have phased out all use of plastics in all aspects of our chicken business. Additionally, our chickens have free range access (as weather allows). We have seasonal availability, with a complete shut-down on eggs over most of winter, as we do not use additional coop lights.
We moved to Pine Junction in 2017 where we have set roots and started our family. We strive to provide an environment where our kids can learn where food comes from, the cycles of life and nature, along with critical and long term thinking skills, all while we serve our community. As we grow, we aim to move beyond eggs, onto other animals, market our produce and prepared food items in the coming years, as well as provide educational experiences.
